Book Mail: Quarantine Edition

Nine weeks into quarantine and I finally made my first online purchase and, yes, they are books and I am so happy! So it went like this, I was browsing through my Facebook feed one weekend which mainly consist of the usual memes, some of my friends’ rants or food they had for lunch, and whatnot when I stumbled upon this post from one of the bookish groups that I am a member of. This person, who is also a member of the group, was decluttering her shelves and decided to sell some of her books. When I saw the titles of the books she were selling, I immediately sent her a message to reserve the books under my name. It was actually an easy transaction because she made a Shopee link for the specific titles that I will be buying and also agreed for me to pay via COD (Cash On Delivery).

So what are the titles that I got, exactly?

  1. The Thing About Jellyfish by Ali Benjamin
  2. Why We Broke Up by Daniel Handler (Art by Maira Kalman)
  3. Illuminae by Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff

I have been wanting to get a copy of Illuminae for a very long time now! I’ve watched booktubers talk about this book (and the whole series) which makes me want to read it even more because I’ve seen that the pages are so beautiful. Now that I have it, I am so excited to get lost in its beautiful pages.

As for The Thing About Jellyfish, I’ve seen it in bookstores and has also been meaning to get a copy but there were other titles on my priority list, so I kept pushing it aside and now I finally have it in my hands, too. Right now, though, I’m reading Why We Broke Up. I’m planning to write a review about it once I’m done, so watch out for that.

So just a quick update, I just finished reading the first book in the Hunger Games trilogy and I just realized that I have always had a hard time doing full reviews on books that are part of a series, so I’ve been reading up articles on how to write a better book review. I hope that helps.

How have you guys been during this time? And what are your quarantine purchases? After receiving these books, I’ve ordered some skincare products, too, which haven’t arrived yet, but I am so excited about. ☺️

    • I am so excited to get to it! I’m really intrigued by the synopsis and the fact that there are so many different text formats included (e.g., emails, messages). I really do hope I like it as much as most people did! 🙂
