To start with, there are a lot of TV series that I’ve started watching before but didn’t really caught up on because the season breaks are too long that most of the time, I lose interest. Recently, though, I signed up for Netflix’s free-trial and have watched a lot of series. I used to just watch some of the series that I think is interesting online, but the server of the website where I was watching has always been down recently and it frustrated the heck out of me. So I decided to sign up for Netflix and just pay for it after the free-trial. So here they are:
Riverdale (2016- )
It all started with Riverdale. I was just instantly hooked the moment I watched the pilot episode almost two years ago, but as usual, I got tired of waiting for the next episode to be uploaded online. And then, I tried watching it again this year and I just couldn’t get enough. The reason I got so interested in watching this series is because I have always been a big fan of the Archie comics and Riverdale’s dark take on the comics has really piqued my interest.
Stranger Things (2016- )
I didn’t really think I’d like this as much as I do now. My cousin has been so addicted to this series, so I started watching it after I finished the last episode of Riverdale Season 2. I personally loved Dustin because he’s so adorable! I can’t wait for season 3.
Gerald’s Game (2017)
This was a hell of a movie. It messed not only with my mind, but with my emotions. Upon watching the film, all I can think about is, “How much of mess would it cause me if I read the book?” Because I know how Stephen King writes. He’s very talented to the point that he can and he will get in your head.
When We First Met (2018)
All I can say about this movie is that it’s too cute. I love the idea of the film and the twist at the end. The message (for me, at least) is that no matter how much you try to alter things, what’s meant to be will always find its way. So might as well just do your best at everything because you will always end up where you’re supposed to be.
There are so many bookish events going on recently that’s just too hard to ignore. Last month, NBS had this huge (and crazy!) month-long sale. I spent almost every weekend looking for awesome titles and it was my birth month, so I feel like it’s okay to splurge every once in a while!
This month, it’s my cousins birth month and she’s also just as bookish as I am. So during the weekend, my grandfather decided to go to C. Raymundo, Pasig City so we could buy (or hoard, in our case) a lot of books.
Here are the books I got from the sale, I didn’t avail their Box-All-You-Can books, but I do got all these books for almost half their original prices, isn’t that amazing?! I’m still so happy that I found The Search For WondLa because,I swear, I’ve been looking for it in every bookstore!
I also picked up the three weeks’ worth of comic books I reserved. Finally, I was getting scared that they wouldn’t hold my reservation anymore. Ha ha
Now, I wonder when I’m going to get to finish reading all this, given that I’ve grown really busy this month and then this May, Fullybooked will be holding their annual Free Comic Book Day! I’m so hyped up because graphic novels will be at 20% off! For more details, click here and follow their Facebook and Twitter page. 🙂
I rarely post wrap ups anymore because I don’t really have the time to read as many books as much as I used to. But during the start of the month, I decided to get ambitious with the books I am going to read (here’s my post about it).
I’ve read 5 books out of the 6 I included on my list to read this month and though I failed to finish that one book, I’m still happy that I got to read a lot this month. I’ve also reviewed them on my blog, so I’ll include the links to those as well.
The Choice was a carry-over from the past month and I finished it during the first week of March. I’ve also read a short story and some comic books that aren’t part of the list of titles I wanted to read this month.
The past year has finally come to a close and though it has been a very frustrating and challenging year for most of us, I actually still had a great reading year!
So in 2016 I’ve read a total of 52 books of my Goodreads goal of 30! This was actually the first time I’ve ever read more than my goal and I am so happy. I’ve read A LOT of comic books last year since DC Comics launched their Rebirth series and I was just too hyped about it. But aside from that, I’ve also read some novels and poem books. So below are list of the titles I’ve read:
Teen Titans #1-3 by Benjamin Percy (DC Comics)
Justice League VS Suicide Squad #1-2 by Joshua Williamson (DC Comics)
Went to the 37th Manila International Book Fair last Sunday with my cousin! After so many years of planning to go, I finally got the chance to! Finally, you guys! It was crazy inside because there are so many people since it’s the last day of the event, but it was an awesome experience nevertheless.
We only spent an hour or so inside. The lines were so long (so so so so long!!! and I’m not even overreacting) that it took us 30 minutes before we were able to pay for our books inside the Fullybooked booth! After paying, we tried roaming around just so we could see other booths and bookish events happening at the time. We also grabbed a copy of the MIBF map since my cousin wanted a remembrance from the event.
I personally loved this booth with all those hugot lines hanging above the place.
There are actually A LOT of people inside and it’s really hard to walk or overtake from anyone. My brother actually came inside with us, but we lost him somewhere, so he decided to go and just wait for us outside.
The only selfie we got from inside and I just realized that there aren’t any sight of books in the background from where we took the picture. *sad*
I can’t wait to start reading them but at the moment, I’m currently reading The Could Searchers (Amulet, #3) by Kazu Kibuishi! It’s a graphic novel and I’m so happy that I’m finally catching up with all the graphic novel series I’ve started reading last year. Yas. *hearts everywhere*
